A taste of local life greets you as you are transferred to the hotel by pirogue from Ile Sainte Marie to Ile Aux Nattes (10 minutes). Baboo Village is a small quaint hotel offering 14 reed/thatch chalets, some with ensuite facilities and others with shared ablutions (Hot water on request). The chalets all have mosquito nets, fans and twin/double beds with small verandas. This cute hotel is set in pretty gardens and is a must for anyone wanting to just relax, eat great food and snorkel/dive.

A popular restaurant entices you to enjoy local Malagasy fare. A long jetty offers you the chance to sit and have cocktails whilst the sun sets.

Free activities: snorkelling, badminton, volleyball, petanque and introductory course in woodcarving by a local carver from Ambositra.

Ile Sainte Marie (Nosy Boraha), a 57 km-long island off Madagascar's east coast, is an authentic tropical island with lush vegetation interspersed with many small villages. This island is beautiful, offering the ultimate escape from civilisation. The hotels along its coast range from basic to classy establishments with all necessary modern facilities. The lush surroundings bring to mind images of an enormous tropical garden. It's ideal for honeymoon couples or anybody with a romantic bent. Ile Sainte Marie boasts numerous stunningly beautiful beaches and secluded coves, fringed with coconut palms. The coral reefs offshore offer excellent snorkelling and scuba diving. In August and September, hump-backed whales spend their time in the offshore waters. The roads beckon mountain bikers; most hotels offer bicycles for hire as well as snorkelling gear.

ITINERARY

(As airline schedules change regularly it may be that you will spend your first night in Antanarivo and transfer to the island the following day)

DAY 1: Fly to Antananarivo (Tana), the lively Malagasy capital in the Central Highlands. On arrival proceed through customs and immigration and make your way to the domestic terminal for your flight to Ile Sainte Marie. A representative of the hotel will meet you on arrival. Transfer by boat to the Baboo Village Hotel where you will be staying for 9 nights.

DAY 10: Transfer to the airport and fly back to Antananarivo. Make your way to the international departure lounge and check in for your flight to Johannesburg
